EMS Trail @ Botanic Gardens

The trail @ the Botanic Gardens on 14 July was somewhat different from other learning journeys. There were no worksheets! Instead, the children had to attempt their various tasks at the different stations with Iphones! How cool is that?

The pupils were grouped in threes to share an Iphone and were guided by 2 facilitators for the trail. I was not surprised that almost all of them could get the hang of using the phone really quickly. They are really tech savvy and that is one of the 21st century skills that is of utmost importance for survival.

Albeit the hot weather, I gather that the children did learn a fair bit pertaining to the EMS (English, Mathematics, Science) subjects and were engaged actively throughout the trail :)

*Genelle, Yee Kai and Eunice were the most united team
(as chosen by the facilitators) and each of them received a $5 Popular book voucher. Well done!

3A's got Talent!

We have many talented pupils in our class and amongst many of them is Yee Kai, our gifted drummer!

He was specially chosen to showcase his gift in 'Kuo Chuan's got Talent' on 2 July. Well done!

Farewell, Mr Lee and Hello again!

Mr Lee Sze Yong's last day with the 3A enrichment Chinese class was on 7 May and the kids had a surprise for him! He was very touched that day! (his words) Surprises of surprises, he was given class 3B to teach after his graduation! Once again, the kids get to see him around in school and those from the core Chinese class are the fortunate ones to have him as their permanent teacher for terms 3 and 4 :)

Macs Class Party!

Our 1st class party on 26 May! The kids chipped in some money and I topped up the difference for our Macs party. The children were also allowed to bring their games on that day! We had a great time and hoped that there was more time for such parties.

Our Mouldy Bread

The following pictures are not for the faint hearted.

Even for myself, it was a first hand experience seeing such mouldy bread. I never knew bread can be THAT mouldy!

I reckon the children will never forget the effect of warmth and moisture on bread ever in their lives :) A very successful Science experiment I must say!
