A Visit to the Hydroponics Shed

We went to our school's very own hydroponics shed on 12 August - last Harvesting Day of the year! The pupils were allowed to gently pull out the saw the roots of the full grown Kang Kong and see the roots!

Before this visit, I asked them, "Children, what colour are the roots of plants?". They chorused back, "Brown!".

They were amazed to see that roots are naturally white/whitish ;) The 'brown' is actually because of the soil. As the plants in the hydroponics shed are grown in water, we can actually see that roots are WHITE!

Tunnel into the Planetarium

The children were treated to an astronomical experience in the Planetarium (a dome like structure with a star and constellation projector) on 11 August.

A little taste of what they can expect on Astro Night =)
This experience is aligned to what the pupils are doing for Art, where they learn to draw Van Gogh's The Starry Night =)

National Day Celebration in KCP!

We celebrated our Nation's Birthday on 6 August =)

The classroom activity in celebration was kite-making - to make a 'Singapore' kite. The most creative and attractive kite of each level will win a prize :) Although we did not win, the Agapians all worked together to form their very own kite! I think it was a job well done and we all enjoyed ourselves, so that's what is most important. Yay!

During the celebration in the hall, the pupils were told a few days earlier to bring their red files. This was to create a picture of the Singapore Flag using red and white surfaces, just like how images were being created using different coloured boards in the actual National Day Parade. A picture was taken from the gallery and I think the effect was great! (I have to get the photo from the photographer - stay tuned)

Enjoy the video clip & photos below!
