I enjoyed reading the children's entries on the journal topic,
"A Time When I Was Sick"
"A Time When I Was Sick"
Here are some entries (unedited; in their own words, expressions, grammatical errors and all) which I thought were really genuine and cute! =)

I recalled I was down with stomach flu when my family and I went to Korea for a holiday in 2004. I was so sick that I have to sleep in the pram most of the time. I was not able to enjoy the amusement rides in Lotte World, food and the scenery. My mother told me I kept asking for oil to rub my stomach. I wish I can go back again in the future.

P.S. Serena also pasted a photo in her journal! :)

When I was sick once it was so terrible. First, I was coughing non-stop which I think was caused by the phlegm. Secondly, I was having high fever around 39 degrees or something which you know is very high. Thirdly, my mother go use cold water to bathe me which it was so cold until I was going to freeze. Forthly, I had to see the doctor 2 times before I could get well. I hope the next time I get sick I wish something like this won’t happen, or should I say even worse.

One morning, I woke up and discovered that I had a sore throat. So I quickly told my mother and she asked me to take the temperature. After taking temperature then realized that I actually have a high fever of 39.8 degrees. I must have get it yesterday after being caught in the rain. My mother was so worried that she decided to bring me to see the doctor. The doctor had given me a few types of medicine and a sick leave for 2 days. My fever has gone and the sore throat got better. So mother told me that I will be ble to go to school the next day. I was so happy as I can meet and play with my friends again. I will make sure to take care of myself and never get myself wet again.

Last year in September, I came down with a serious case of stomach flu. It started with a mild fever on a Friday afternoon. The next day, I began to vomit. Not before long, I started to have stomach pains. Then, my parents brought me to see a doctor. By night, my condition did not improve but instead got worse. After that, my parents and I visited the KK children hospital where I was later admitted. The next morning, the doctor on duty examined me and prescribed some medication to bring down my fever. During my stay, I got to know a new friend who was at my age. After two days, my condition improved and I was allowed to be discharged to go home. As I was still weak, I was given some medicine and few days Medical Certificate to rest at home.

Last year, I had a fever. I had to go to the doctor to get some medicine. The doctor told me to take the medicine three times a day so that I could recover. On the first day, my forehead was so hot that I tore my clothes off and jumped into a mini bathtub. I took some toys too… so I can play. After two days of sleeping, eating medicine, and bathing, I fully recovered. I was overjoyed to go back to school again! (The medicine was so disgusting I almost puked!)

One Wednesday in November, before my swimming competition, I had a bad cough and fever. At first, I felt tired and weak. I told my mother about it and she checked my temperature. It was 38 degrees! I was running a fever! My mother took me to a neighbourhood clinic nearby. The doctor said that I had flu. She gave medicine for the cough and fever. My mother asked if I could go for the swimming competition on Friday. The doctor said I could. I was relieved as it was my first competition. My mother took care of me and I took the medicine. I felt run-down. That night, my breathing was very fast. My parents took me to KK Hospital. I waited very long for my turn. Finally, it was my turn. The doctor said I had to use the inhaler. He also said that I had to abstain from swimming for a few weeks. I was very disappointed because I had to miss my swimming competition! My mother consoled me and told me that I will have many opportunities in future. After a week, I was healed. Thank God I enjoyed my December holidays.

When I was sick I did not feel well and I felt real sad.
I had chicken pox when I was in kindergarden! I hated all my itchy spots and I wished I wasen’t sick.
When I was sick one day… I COULD NOT EAT A SINGLE THING!!!! I couldn’t eat cheese or pizza!
Nobody likes getting sick neither DO I!! Well.. I did not expect getting chicken pox so early… and I did not no I had chicken pox till my parents told me.
Well at least I am healthy now. *PHEW* When I am sick… I just lie down on our sofa and watch television and eat porridge or food (MAYBE not!!).

Last Friday (8-1-2010) I did not attend school. I had come down with fever, flu and cough. At the start of the day, I felt terribly ill. My parents had to ring me to the doctor’s. The doctor had prescribed me an oval-shaped pill (which was not disgusting) and two other round pills that tasted extremely disgusting! (Yuk!!) I had to take the pills for eight days! Now, I felt even more sick! After the visit to the doctor, I went to the nearby Prata stall for breakfast. When I came home, I took my medicine and took a long nap. I slept for nearly two and a half hour! When I had woken up, I was just in time for lunch. I felt super hungry, so hungry that when I got my food, I wolfed it down as fast as I could swallow. As a result of my haste, I suffered from a stomachache. After a few hours, my family and I went out to take a walk because I was all cooped up at home. I feel so much better now! (17-1-2010). Now I am able to have fun with my teachers and friends in school although I still have a little bit of running nose. Now I am free from my sicknesses. Halaluah! Halaluah!
