A Visit to the Hydroponics Shed

We went to our school's very own hydroponics shed on 12 August - last Harvesting Day of the year! The pupils were allowed to gently pull out the saw the roots of the full grown Kang Kong and see the roots!

Before this visit, I asked them, "Children, what colour are the roots of plants?". They chorused back, "Brown!".

They were amazed to see that roots are naturally white/whitish ;) The 'brown' is actually because of the soil. As the plants in the hydroponics shed are grown in water, we can actually see that roots are WHITE!
